Theme: "Preliminary Survey Research on Youth-Mediated Agriculture Support System Service Model in Vietnam (YMC-Viet Project)"

YMC-Viet Project is the field test of the Youth Mediated Communication model conducted from February 16th to March 31st in 2011, to improve agricultural productivity in Tra On District, V?nh Long Province, Vietnam, participated by 30 Vietnamese families. It was funded by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan, as a part of its Ubiquitous Alliance Project, and conducted with the support from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam, with NTT Communications Corporations as the Project Manager. Pangaea participated in this project as the developer and the provider of the YMC system, as the proponent of the YMC model.

The project applies Youth-Mediated Communication System, utilizing Language Grid and Agriculture Grid services in rural villages with low literacy rates in Vietnam, creating a Model System utilizing youth with high literacy rates to collect necessary information (temperature, humidity, weather, rice height, leaf color, disease, bugs, questions from parents, etc.) and consult online with Japanese agriculture experts. By utilizing this Model System, future increases in agricultural productivity, improvements in product quality, increased sales, rural economic development, and the expansion of rural ICT infrastructure are anticipated.

Theme: "Development of the e-Training system for the organization building to deploy overseas locations for children's cultural exchange activities utilizing ICT"

In the 3rd year, we develop the promotion program for Facilitator trainers. This year's project aims at completing the e-Training system in distant locations.

2nd year : January 2010 to December 2010

Theme: "Development of the e-Training system for the organization building to deploy overseas locations for children's cultural exchange activities utilizing ICT"

In 2nd year, we proved developed e-Training in distant places. This years project aims at the upgrade of the e-Training system.

1st year : January 2009 to December 2009

Theme: "Development of the e-Training system for the organization building to deploy overseas locations for children's cultural exchange activities utilizing ICT"

We built up the e-Training program which can be provided distantly instead of the face-to-face training, to train facilitators supporting activities. This enhances the opportunities for children to participate in the activities with smooth deployment of worldwide activity locations and framework reconstruction for human resource development.



The Japan Foundation "The civil youth exchange promotion program"

December 2009 to June 2010

Theme: "International exchange activity in Malaysia and Japan"

We provide the international exchange activity beyond the barriers of language, geographical distance and the differences in social backgrounds between Malaysian children, which consist of many cultures such as Malay, Islam, Chinese and Japanese children.



UBS/Social Innovation Japan: "Kids in Art"

2nd year : January 2009 to December 2009

Theme:"Development of the Kids Art Collaboration project to bond children in and out of the hospital"

We developed the framework to care for children feeling isolated due to being in a hospital. This fact was found by the first year's implementation. We researched the effectiveness and developed the customized program to adjust to each child's medical condition or environment.

1st year : January 2008 to December 2008

"Promotion of the creative activity inside a hospital ward and implementation of the collaborative activity outside of the hospital"

This project aims to provide long-term hospitalized children with creative art activities, designed by Pangaea. We coordinated the "Pangaea Art Contest" for inpatient children to connect with other youngsters, as well as with other Pangaea sites. We also carry out activities, creating Pangaea calendars, for inpatient children to work with other young people across the globe.



Welfare and Medical Service Agency: "Assistance for Long-Life, Child-Care and Disability Projects"

May 2008 to March 2009

"The International Exchange Program for Children Hospitalized on a Pediatric Unit Developed by Using Information Technology"

This program aims to enable children receiving long-term inpatient treatment to virtually interact with young people outside of the hospital. Pangaea developed its own activity tools, based on universal design principles, in order for inpatient children to communicate with their international peers. We strive towards universal usability for all children through the projects implementation.

This aims to develop ICT simultaneous activity materials for children, enabling them to communicate beyond culture, language and distance.

This aims to formulate networks among Asian countries by training facilitators to achieve communication among children.





Japan Post: "New-Year Card Donation Fund"

"Research, development and distribution of Pictogram Communication Cards as the tool in communication for challenged children"

Pangaea innovates and develops Pictogram Communication Cards as the communication tool between physically / mentally-challenged children and supporters. Cards are distributed to people cooperating in the project for free.
